Sheets in the River

I walked down Meadowlark Lane
wandering down the flower adorned path
sun rays shower my body
i can feel the crisp air against my skin
i listen to the bluebirds sing
with my sheets in my arms I kneel down to the river and toss
them into the fierce waters
I watch them follow the current
down the rapids
they quickly pass swimming ducks
and float towards stationary rocks
suddenly the sun disappeared and the sky darkened
time stood still
i watched my sheets catch a corner of a fallen tree branch
the current grew stronger
I saw the fibers rip and tear
exhausted cotton
destroyed linen
once perfect without holes
vanished into the troubled river
sinking into the depths of the murky abyss
I lay myself down on a picnic bench and turn to see
the sheets in shreds
I lay ontop of the table with my hands beneath my head
and stare into the sky
it's almost completely dark out
I close my eyes
in hopes of waking up
on cotton clouds

jaded mirror

there are times when i look in the mirror and am unable to see what everyone else sees
it's as though i cannot remember the person looking back at me
i'm able to see a girl but am unable to place the pieces to the puzzle
of me
and who i am
i confuse myself
in effort to try to accept the way of the world with a set of eyes that often shadow my perspective of reality and daydreams

Dear Cyberbully, I've got news for you.

words dig deep like dirt for a grave
hiding behind a name electronically
may make you feel brave
the type of attention you crave
it just might be the wake up call that your words are louder than actions
this lesson you need to learn
is one that cuts like razor blades
your words in text holds weight and permeates
through screens that burns
the eyes who read it
did you know you have people contemplating their existence?
it is you mr. cyberbully
who is alone creating and spreading hate
messing up people's fate
turning their moments
their memories
their emotions
and stripping that
into a moment of pain and suffering
what is your excuse?
in your eyes and in your heart
in your defense
you might plead oblivion to what you said
anonymous comments seep into the pores of the weak
it is the reason that so many people
are sad and pained
if cyberbullying is what makes you feel powerful
than i feel bad for you
you are a menace to society
what you type
may be the comment that ends it all
do you want to be the reason that someone takes their life?

A Familiar Place

there are times and moments in my life that i feel myself slipping away and hiding inside myself. i visit this place quite often and am able to leave when i feel ready and other times i stay for longer and am not able to come out of it for weeks. this place welcomes me when i find myself lost or discontent. it's a place with dark walls and swaying trees filled with darkness. the skies are dark and the horizon meets the sea without a sunset. this place is a readily available escape and recently i have found myself venturing deeper into the woods of this familiar ground and i can feel that i am fading into its essence. i cannot stay here for much longer. i must go. i need to break this.
